ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Weary of listening to the Newton vs. Bernoulli argument and various cockamamie theories about what really causes lift, he settles the question once and for all, amazingly without resorting to PhD level mathematics.

On balmy summer afternoons Ülo instructs beginners  to gliding and flies his Schweizer 1-35 at Pendleton, Ontario, 1-1/2 hours' drive from home (a commute typical of most gliding sites.)

He lives with his wife JoAnne in the West end of Montreal island and is fortunate to have his children and grandchildren reside within easy reach.

Ülo Okapuu is a retired aerospace engineer who specialized in the design of aerodynamic components of gas turbine engines.  His professional experience, combined with his lifelong hobby of gliding, has produced insights into the aerodynamics of flight and aircraft propulsion which he shares, in his book, with newcomers to flying.
